The Village Panchayat Chinchinim – Deussua, consists of two revenue villages i.e. Deussua & Chinchinim, situated in Salcete Taluka, South Goa District, State of Goa.
The Panchayat consists of 11 wards and has 11 elected representatives i.e. ward members (Male -4 & Female -7) approx. 11290. As per 2011 census, the total population was 6908 with breakup 3263 males & 3645 females. Total households are 2929, 246 of OBC, 50 of SC and 948 of ST. The V.P. comes in the jurisdiction of ZP, 35 – Velim Constituency, South Goa Parliamentary Constituency.
Chinchinim – Deussua are beautiful villages surrounded on the banks of River Sal on the north, South & western and hilly areas eastern and partly west. These two villages are known to be the biggest rural villages of Goa having a predominant Catholic population. Its boundaries are as follows North by V.P. Dramapur – Sirlim, South V.P. Assolna and Cuncolim Municipal Council and Assolna bridge on River Sal, East by V.P. Sarzora and west by V.P. Orlim and Carmona and also Orlim Bridge on River Sal.
In the vicinity, one can also find two High Schools, one Higher Secondary School, Two Anganwadies with 38 Children, Post Office, Football ground, Hospital, Primary Health Centre, Sub-Health Centre, Panchayat Ghar, Rural Telephone Exchange, Electricity Sub-Office, Durga Farm and NUSI Academy, Eight Nationalized Banks, Three Co-operative Banks, Three Societies with fare Price shops. One Church and five Main Chapels. There are 6 registered Clubs and 2 SHG’s and 6 main Water bodies, Two Communidades i.e. Chinchinim & Deussua and one Temple- Datta Mandir with Festival in December, Two registered forums i.e. Forum for Senior Citizen Chinchinim & Forum of Chinchinim Villagers.
V.P. Chinchinim – Deussua has 1 spring known as Bonkiwada at Sant Moddi, its mostly used for picnics. Also the water is considered having medical values – this Spring needs restoration and better improvement in order to make it a Heritage site and Tourist spot. The area itself is a Biodiversity Hotspot. The Villages are famous for Religious persons, Footballers, Musicians, Doctors, Lawyers, Artists, Engineers, Teachers & others. Most of the villagers are Seafearers and employed in foreign countries.
